Guide Dogs Dancing, Acrylic on canvas, 101 x 101cm, 2015
Each week Stanley attends an obedience class with other guide dog puppies, all Labs, including two of his siblings. The instructor allows twenty-five minutes at the start of the class for unrestricted group play. In my painting I positioned the dancing dogs against a field of colour with no indication of location; when dogs play together there is no place and no time - the only thing that exists is pure joy. This is as true for service dogs as regular canines - when guide dogs play they let their hair down.
