Continuing her theme of documenting service industry workers and the act of being served, Karen Bailey presents a snippet of life in the salon, from the painters perspective. These acrylic canvases document the intensity of the stylist and colourist as they attend to their clients as well as the theatricality of "women in foil".

"In these paintings I seek to express the rich interplay which exists between woman and stylist, woman and herself, and the roles established within this terrain. While transporting the viewer to a familiar interior setting (we have all experienced having our hair cut at a salon or barber), attention is drawn to the importance and the complexity of the commonplace."
