Guide Dogs Dancing, Acrylic on canvas, 101 x 101cm, 2015

Each week Stanley attended an obedience class with other guide dog puppies, all Labs, including two of his siblings. The instructor allows twenty minutes at the start of the class for unrestricted group play. In my painting I positioned the dancing dogs against a field of colour with no indication of location; when dogs play together there is no place and no time - the only thing that exists is pure joy. This is as true for service dogs as regular canines - when guide dogs play they let their hair down.
